University of Connecticut Huskies forward Breanna Stewart, 30, blocks the shot of University of Houston Cougars forward Destini Texada, 12, during the first half.

It may have been nice and old outside of Gampel Pavilion on Tuesday night but the baskets inside were hot from all the UConn baskets being scored.

Super sophomore Breanna Stewart had 24 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots to lead the UConn Huskies women's basketball team to an easy 90-40 win over the Houston Cougars in front of 6,257 fans.

The No. 1 Huskies improve to 16-0 (4-0 American) while the Cougars fall to (4-11, 0-4).

Morgan Tuck came off the bench to score 19 points in just 13 minutes of action. Kiah Stokes had a double-double off the bench with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Stefanie Dolson added eight points, nine rebounds and a career-high seven blocked shots. Moriah Jefferson led the Huskies with six points to go along with her six points.

Jefferson's best friend from high school, Alecia Smith, led the Cougars with 11 points and five rebounds. Marche' Amerson also had 11 points in the losing effort.

UConn fell behind 2-0 then scored the next 18 points. After a Houston three, they followed that up with a 21-0 run and put the game out of reach as if it already weren't.

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they'll host former assistant coach Tonya Cardoza and the Temple Owls at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. Tip is scheduled for 12 p.m.
