After losing the first three games against the New York Yankees and their last five overall, the Boston Red Sox look to leave the Bronx on a positive note.
This afternoon’s game will start at 8:05 PM and will be shown to national television audience on ESPN. If the television isn’t your cup of tea, you can also catch the game on the radio on one of the many affiliates of the Red Sox Radio Network.
Jon Lester’s job tonight is simple. Pitch well and give the Red Sox a chance to win while hoping for some run support. He’s made 22 starts this season and is 9-7 with a 3.79 ERA. He’s faced the Yankees twice this season and is 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA. He’s never lost to them in six career starts as he is 3-0 with a 3.43 ERA. In three starts in New York against them, he is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA.
Andy Pettitte looks to lead the Yankees to a sweep tonight of their hated rivals. He’s made 22 starts this season and is 9-6 with a 4.35 ERA. He’s made 1 start against the Red Sox this season and is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA. He’s appeared in 33 games (31 starts) in his career against the Red Sox and is 16-9 with a 3.76 ERA.
The starter for Tuesday night’s game against the Detroit Tigers had been unknown up until this afternoon as Terry Francona announced that Junichi Tazawa will make his first big league start.
The Red Sox also made yet another roster move as they called up Fernando Cabrera from Triple-A Pawtucket and designated Enrique Gonzalez for assignment.
