After gambling that Jacoby Ellsbury would heal quickly from his bruised ribs after a collision with Adrian Beltre, the Boston Red Sox have placed him on the disabled list according to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe.
To replace Ellsbury on the roster, the Red Sox have called up Darnell McDonald from Triple-A Pawtucket. The move for Ellsbury is retroactive to April 12th.
In 10 games with the PawSox, McDonald is hitting .341 with two home runs and eight RBIs.
