It was a game that should have never started last night between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox. The rain was falling in the area and was expected at Fenway Park at anytime. It didn’t take long either for the umpires to call the game.

The Rays had the bases loaded and one out in the top of the 1st when the umpires called for the tarp. About 2 1/2 hours later, the game was called. Luckily for the Red Sox, the game will start over on Sunday. The bad thing is that Jon Lester had to go out and pitch last night. He threw 24 pitches but will start in Game 2 of the doubleheader on Sunday.

The schedule for Sunday is the replaying of last night’s game at 12 p.m. Tickets for last night’s game will be good for the noon game on Sunday. The regularly scheduled game for Sunday will start at 5 p.m. and tickets for the original 1:35 p.m. game will be honored for the game.

It does look as though the weather should be out of the area in time for tonight’s game but as we all know with the weather is that you just never now. One thing’s for certain, they won’t make the same mistake as last night if there’s only a small window.

The Red Sox were able to pick up a 1/2 game on the New York Yankees last night who lost to the Baltimore Orioles. They sit 8.5 games behind them for first place in the AL East. The Seattle Mariners were rained out against the Texas Rangers last night so the wild card standings remained the same.
