My apologies for the lack of posts yesterday. I had to head down to where I used to live take care of some odds and ends. But I’m back today and ready to go.

The Boston Red Sox enjoyed a day off yesterday from Grapefruit League action  and today they head across the state to Jupiter to take on the St. Louis Cardinals. There is no television coverage and the only radio coverage will be on KTRS 550-AM in St. Louis.

Some of the players from the Red Sox participating in the World Baseball Classic were in action yesterday.

Dustin Pedroia (0-for-5) and Kevin Youkilis (0-for-4) were held hitless in Team USA’s 5-3 loss to Venezuela. Both squads do advance to the 2nd round in Miami where Team USA will play Puerto Rico on Saturday. Speaking of Puerto Rico, Javier Lopez pitched an inning of one hit ball in their 5-0 win over The Netherlands. Sox farm hand Mitch Dening and his Australian squad were eliminated by Mexico 16-1. Dening went 0-for-1 in the game.

Before today’s games, Rob over at The Bottom Line took a look at the stats of the Red Sox players participating in the WBC. Here are the links to the hitters stats and pitchers stats. Be sure to check them out.
