It’s two days before Christmas and Mark Teixeira has said he wants to know where he’ll be playing by Christmas. So will today be the day we find out he’ll be signing with the Boston Red Sox? Or will it be with the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Nationals, Los Angeles Angels or gulp, the New York Yankees?
There was a report out there (I won’t link to it) that Teixeira and the Red Sox had agreed to a deal. That rumor was quickly shot down by Dan Roche of WBZ. What I think happened is the website wanted to be the one with the scoop and if they were right could say they were the first with it. It’s different when a national or local news website has the news but when an unaffiliated blogger has it, it’s harder to believe.
There was a report on MASN from Roch Kubatko that the Nationals may have sweetened their offer to Teixeira with an 8 year deal worth $178-184 million.
Jon Heyman of SI.com says that a Teixeira deal is imminent and the Red Sox are still seen as the favorites to land him.
In a recent SOX & Dawgs poll, 55% of you said that Teixeira will end up with the Red Sox. To be honest with you, this poll was up before the announcement the Red Sox were backing off but the voting picked up in the Red Sox favor even more.
