AL MVP? Kevin Youkilis or Dustin Pedroia

Is today the day we will be calling either Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis or second baseman Dustin Pedroia MVP of the American League. Unless it leaks out early, we will know who is named the AL MVP at 2 PM. My money is on Pedroia to win it.

Dan Roche of WBZ-TV caught up with Pedroia on the eve of the announcement of the MVP and talked with him about the postseason, the MVP race, Terry Francona, Kevin Youkilis, his wife Kelli and being a member of the Boston Red Sox. By the way, Pedroia thinks everyone else is boring.

Roche also looks at the stats of Youk and Pedroia.

Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal looks at the season Dustin Pedroia had and why he’s the favorite to win the AL MVP.

James Stewart of WEEI.com looks at all the candidates for MVP and figures that Pedroia should win.

Sean McAdam of the Boston Herald also looks the numbers of Pedroia and Youk.

While a decision is unlikely to come down today, we should find out in the next day or two whether or not the Mariners will name Brad Mills or DeMarlo Hale as their new manager. Of course it could be one of the other candidates as well.

Daisuke Matsuzaka attended the Silk Gala by the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence over the weekend.

Here’s a look ahead at the 2009 Red Sox.

With the Yankees acquiring Nick Swisher from the White Sox, the Red Sox probably won’t have to outbid the Yankees for Mark Teixeira.

Rob Bradford of WEEI.com says Daisuke Matsuzaka has been well worth the $103 million the Red Sox spent to get him.

I’ll be back at 2 PM or earlier if it leaks with the news on who won the AL MVP.
