The 2011 MLB Draft concluded on Wednesday afternoon and we saw the Boston Red Sox draft a total of 53 players across the three-day, 50 round event.

Boston Red SoxThe draft saw the Red Sox take three first baseman, one second baseman, three third baseman, four catchers, one infielder, eight left handed pitchers, 10 outfielders, 17 right handed pitchers and three shortstops.

Over half of the players they selected were in high school (29). The others were 12 college juniors, one draft-eligible sophomore, seven college seniors and four junior college players.

Of the 25 pitchers they drafted, 12 of them were from high school.

The Red Sox amateur scouting department will now have its hands full as they try to sign as many of these players as they can. Some will be hard to sign of course.
