Approximately 16 days ago, the headline of a post on the site was titled Andre Drummond is NOT coming to UConn. The post was based on Drummond’s decision to stay in prep school for another year with only a transfer in his mind.

Andre Drummond is the perhaps the greatest basketball player to ever come out of Hartford, on Wednesday many Div 1 colleges watched as he played at a clinic at the Sport and Medical Sciences Academy. Well apparently things have changed over the 16 days as Drummond has changed his mind and is now planning on being a member of the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team for the 2011-12 season.

He announced his decision on Twitter earlier:

It’s official I’m heading to the university of connecticut to be a husky this year! Do I hear

Obviously this is a huge development in Storrs. The late addition of DeAndre Daniels plus Ryan Boatright gives the Huskies a top recruiting class.

Plus, you have to think that Jim Calhoun will be coming back to coach next year. As of now, he has not made an official decision but the writing is on the wall that he’ll be back patrolling the sidelines next season.

As of right now, the Huskies have no scholarships available which means someone will more than likely not have a scholarship next year. If I were a betting man (I’m not), my money would be on Michael Bradley. But you never know.

Here’s what a some of the Husky family had to say on Twitter:

@kembawalker: congrats bro!

@aoriakhi34: my Boi is a husky!! Let’s go congrats boy

Coming off the NCAA Championship in 2011, the pieces are there for the Huskies to make another run. The possible starting lineup could be Shabazz Napier (PG), Jeremy Lamb (SG), DeAndre Daniels/Roscoe Smith (SF), Alex Oriakhi (PF/C) and Drummond (PF/C).

Now it’s up to Calhoun to get them all to play as one.
