The Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays were suspended last night with the score tied 1-1 and the Red Sox coming to bat in the 9th. They will resume play tonight.
Tonight’s suspended game will start at 7:10 p.m. with the regularly scheduled game to start 30-45 minutes at the conclusion of the suspended game. It will be shown on NESN in the Red Sox television market. The game will be broadcast on Sun Sports in the Rays television market. If you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2010 Red Sox radio network.
Clay Buchholz will start the regularly scheduled game for the Red Sox. He allowed two runs in five innings against the Royals in his first start to pick up the win. He made two starts against the Rays in 2009 and was 1-0 with a 2.77 ERA (4 ER/13 IP). He’s made four career starts against the Rays and is 2-1 with a 2.39 ERA.
James Shields will start the regularly scheduled game for the Rays. He has no record in two starts this season with a 3.97 ERA. He made four starts against the Red Sox in 2009 going 1-3 with a 5.47 ERA. Shields has made 12 career starts against the Red Sox and is 3-7 with a 5.32 ERA. He is winless at Fenway Park in eight starts (0-6) with an 8.04 ERA.
