While we have to wait until 5 p.m. on Friday for the big awards, the Big East Conference announced four awards plus the All-Big East teams. And as you would expect, there’s a distinct UConn Huskies women’s basketball flavor to the teams.

Big East ConferenceSenior Tiffany Hayes was named to the All-Big East First Team and is joined by her teammate sophomore Bria Hartley. Freshman Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis was named to the All-Big East Second Team.

KML also picked up the Big East Sixth Man Award and should win Freshman of the Year honors tomorrow. She and Kiah Stokes were named to the All-Big East Freshman Team.

There was one other member of the Huskies honored for her play and that was sophomore Stefanie Dolson who received honorable mention honors.

Given what Kelly Faris does for the Huskies on a nightly basis, I’m really shocked she was not recognized by the coaches in the conference.

The Big East Player of the Year, Big East Freshman of the Year, Big East Coach of the Year and Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year are the four awards that will be announced tomorrow.
