My father passed this one along to me and I felt I needed to share it. If you are a UConn soccer fan, you should know all about Julius James. But if you don’t, you should click on the picture below and check it out. And while you’re there, place your vote for him to win the Lowe’s Senior Class Award.

UConn athletic director Jeff Hathaway is not a happy camper right now. His reason. The Huskies are getting screwed this weekend with their first ever football game as ranked team is being broadcast on ESPNU. It screws the Huskies in that most of the state of Connecticut and New Jersey won’t be able to see the game because Comcast doesn’t carry The U. Also as part of the television agreement the Big East has with ESPN, teams do not get compensated the $100,000 they would if they were on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.
This hurts the program as far as recruiting and exposure goes. This is the first time the team has been ranked in it’s Div-1 and being on a network that isn’t seen nationally isn’t good. I know UConn won’t be on national TV every week but this is a pivotal step as they look to build the program.
The UConn women’s basketball team opens it up it’s 2007-08 campaign with an exhibition game this Friday against the USA Women’s National Team. Some of the members of the team might look familiar as Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Swin Cash will all play in the game. This will be their first time ever playing as part of the visiting team at Gampel Pavilion As Steve pointed out in the comments, Diana and Sue have played once before as the visitors in Gampel. This will be Swin’s first time as a member of the opposing team playing at her alma mater. The game tips-off at 7:30 PM and CPTV will be showing the game.
The men’s basketball team will play it’s first exhibition game on Thursday night against Assumption College at 7:30 PM at Gampel Pavilion.
