According to Sean McAdam of CSN New England, the Boston Red Sox will be placing center fielder Mike Cameron the 15-day DL with a sports hernia. Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe says the Red Sox will call up Josh Reddick from Triple-A Pawtucket to take his place on the roster.
Cameron was scratched from the lineup yesterday after he feel a reoccurrence of the kidney stone symptoms he suffered late last week. Instead, he has abdominal strain (sports hernia) that could related to the groin injury he suffered during spring training.
In nine games with the PawSox, Reddick is hitting .179 with one home run and six RBIs. He spent part of the weekend in a Boston hotel stashed away in case Jacoby Ellsbury was placed on the DL with his bruised ribs.
