Patriots defensive lineman Ty Warren was rewarded by the club with a 5-year contract worth a maximum of $35 million of which $18 million is guaranteed.
The Patriots say the new deal replaces the last two seasons of Warren’s rookie contract and extends him through 2011. Warren was scheduled to earn $1.075 million this season and $1.45 million for 2008 under the old contract which was a six-year $20 million contract and included a $3 million signing bonus and $3.25 million option bonus.
Warren, from Texas A&M, was the 13th player taken in 2003 draft and has played 63 games, starting 51 of them in 4 seasons. In that time he has recorded 291 tackles, 13 ½ sacks, 6 pass deflections, 3 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries.
The Patriots now have their front three all signed long-term. Richard Seymour and Vince Wilfork are both signed through 2009.
The Patriots will be on the field tonight when they play the Tennessee Titans at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Kick off is at 8 p.m.
