The Boston Red Sox spent their day off on Monday in Detroit as they close out their road trip with a 3-game set with the Tigers.
The Red Sox starting pitching has turned the corner and is becoming a little more like what we expected when the season began. It’s up to Daisuke Matsuzaka to continue that trend tonight.
For whatever reason, the Red Sox seem to struggle at the plate when they are on the road. Maybe it’s the fact that there’s no Green Monster starring down the 3rd base line at them. They did however break out of their shell in their last game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Red Sox enter tonight’s game 1 game behind their hated rivals to the south to the New York Yankees. It might be closer but the local nine is just 12-16 on the road this season. They are currently 3-4 on this 10-game trip and would need a sweep of the Tigers to finish above .500 on the trip.
