One of the things I can afford myself right now with the Boston Red Sox starting their last west coast swing of the season is the ability to convert my body clock to west coast time. In doing this, I’ll be able to stay awake to watch the beloved Red Sox this week.
And with the Red Sox off next day as well, I’ll be able to change right back to east coast time.
After a dramatic win on Sunday night, the Red Sox spent Sunday night/early Monday traveling to Anaheim as they prepare for a 3-game set with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Besides the starting pitching sans Tim Wakefield not being up to par so far this season, the main concern right now is the injuries to Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia. While it appears Youk should be back in the lineup tonight, Pedroia will most likely watching from the bench. He is expected to be back tomorrow night.
The starting pitching has left something to be desired as the Red Sox starters are ranked last in the American League with a 5.81 ERA. There doesn’t appear to be anything physically wrong with Josh Beckett and Jon Lester. Their problems seem to be more mechanical than anything. And with pitching guru John Farrell in the dugout, hopefully he can fix them sooner rather than later.
Just a quick note, if you’re going to be watching the Red Sox pre-game show tonight, you’ll find it on NESN Plus. The game will be covered on NESN though as the Boston Bruins should be done with their Game 6 NHL Playoff game. And one other note, Dave Roberts will be joining Don Orsillo in the booth for the games this week.
