With his trade value at a high due to the recent contracts signed by other outfielders, the Boston Red Sox are in serious negotiations with the San Francisco Giants about Manny Ramirez. Manny had repeatedly asked to be traded in the past and it seems the Red Sox are calling his bluff.
With the impending signing of J.D. Drew, the Sox think they can get something good for him. The Sox should take a look at what happened to the NY Yankees when they traded away Gary Sheffield. They only got prospects for him. The Sox could also look to dump Matt Clement’s contract in a deal.
Personally, I think it’s a dumb deal to make. Without Manny, you can expect Big Papi to walk 200 times. Manny provides excellent protection batting behind Papi. And if Big Papi ain’t hitting anything, the Sox aren’t winning. Â I don’t care what they say, trading away Manny is dumb.
