After a rainout last night, the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays will try it again tonight at Fenway Park, weather permitting of course.
Tonight’s game is scheduled to start at 7:10 PM and the game will be televised on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Rays television market, you can catch the game on FOX Sports Florida. And if the television isn’t your cup of tea, you can catch the game on one of the many affiliates of the Red Sox Radio Network.
After struggling in his previous four outings, Josh Beckett was a little better but was undone by one bad inning his last time out. He’s made 28 starts this season and is 14-6 with a 3.87 ERA. He’s made four starts against the Rays this season and is 1-1 with a 5.70 ERA. In fourteen career starts against the Rays, he is 6-4 with a 3.79 ERA.
Highly regarded Rays pitching prospect Wade Davis makes just his second big league start for the Rays tonight. In his first outing, he allowed one run over seven innings and got a no decision as the Rays bullpen imploded late. He did have nine strikeouts in his debut.
Here is a press release from the Red Sox about the weather situation tonight.
The current weather forecast (provided by the Red Sox private weather service, Meteorlogix) in the vicinity of Fenway Park calls for the possibility of rain showers in the area during the afternoon and evening hours.
The Fenway Park gates will open at the regularly scheduled time of 5:10 p.m., and the Red Sox are hopeful that tonight’s game with Tampa Bay, which is scheduled for 7:10 p.m., will be played. However, the Red Sox want to alert our fans to the current forecast and to the possibility of delay.
This forecast is of course subject to change as the day progresses. Additional updates will be provided as necessary.
