The Boston Red Sox found themselves in a 6-2 hole after five innings on Tuesday night. Instead of laying down, they fought back and tied the game up.
Unfortunately though, they couldn’t complete the come-from-behind win when Chris Parmelee hit a two-run walk-off home run off of Andrew Miller for an 8-6 win for the Twins.
Jake Peavy was flipped in the rotation from Wednesday to last night and wasn’t his usual self. Luckily, the rally prevented him from taking the loss. Peavy allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings.
Chris Capuano, Craig Breslow and Junichi Tazawa allowed the Red Sox to rally by throwing 3.2 shutout innings.
David Ortiz was the offensive star for the visiting nine in this one. He was 4-for-5 with four RBIs including two solo home runs. Shane Victorino added three hits and an RBI with Jonny Gomes adding the final RBI on a bases loaded walk.
