Dustin Pedroia will always remember his 100th career home run.
That home run, a grand slam in the 6th inning, broke open a 2-1 game and helped the Boston Red Sox to a 7-1 win over the Oakland A’s at Fenway Park on Friday night.
Pedroia finished the night going 2-for-3 with the grand slam, two walks and two runs scored. A.J. Pierzynski added two hits and an RBI while Xander Bogaerts had two hits. Mike Napoli and Jackie Bradley Jr. had the other RBIs for the home team.
Clay Buchholz started this one and definitely had his best game of the young 2014 season.
He went 6.1 innings, allowing just the one run on three hits and three walks while striking out five to pick up his second win. Andrew Miller, Edward Mujica and Craig Breslow finished it off for Buchholz.
