The New England Patriots have announced that they have have signed their former backup quarterback Matt Gutierrez to the practice squad.
Gutierrez was let go in the final round of cuts during the preseason and has the knowledge of the Patriots offense having spent 2007 and training camp this year with them. He appeared in 5 games last year and was successful in his lone passing attempt.
The signing of Gutierrez provides a little depth at the QB position as it appears for now that the Patriots will go with what they have.
