Boston Red Sox News & Notes – 5/19

The Boston Red Sox enjoyed an off day yesterday and now await the first place Toronto Blue Jays tonight who are in town for 3 games.

Tonight may or may not see the return of David Ortiz to the Red Sox lineup. Skipper Terry Francona was non-committal on Sunday as to whether or not he’d be back. With two lefties going in the first two games, it makes think that maybe Big Papi will get another day or two of rest.

The Red Sox will welcome back Kevin Youkilis to the lineup tomorrow. Youk is finishing up a 2-game rehab assignment in Pawtucket this afternoon. They will also welcome back Daisuke Matsuzaka to the rotation on Friday night after he finished up his rehab assignment in Pawtucket over the weekend. Justin Masterson will most likely head to the pen with Hunter Jones being the odd man out.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that Heidi Watney will most likely interview Kevin Millar during the NESN pre-game show tonight. If she does, we can expect to get something good from Millar.
