In his first fight just under a year after battling various illnesses, UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar retained his belt as he beat interim UFC heavyweight champion Shane Carwin by submission (arm triangle choke) at 3:52 of the second round during UFC 116 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

This was the first time Carwin had gone to the second round and he almost didn’t have to go there except Lesnar was able to withstand the beatdown that Carwin gave him in the first round.

Lesnar’s next fight will come against Cain Velazquez at a time and place to be determined. Lesnar also earned the submission of the night from UFC president Dana White for this fight.
