During today’s WNBA All-Star Game at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT, three-time UConn Huskies All-American forward Maya Moore had 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals in USA Basketball’s 99-72 win over the WNBA All-Stars.
Moore was also on one of six Huskies in the game who played. Diana Taurasi (9 pts), Sue Bird (2 pts), Swin Cash (13 pts), Renee Montgomery (0 pts) and Tina Charles (6 pts) were the others.
Wait, what??? Moore is playing in the WNBA All-Star Game yet she’s still got one year to go at UConn? Ya don’t say!
Yes Moore was playing in today’s WNBA All-Star Game because she is the only collegiate player that is part of the player pool for USA Women’s Basketball. And with Geno Auriemma as her head coach there too, Moore was afforded the opportunity to play in the game and deservedly so.
And by the looks of this up and under move by Moore, you couldn’t tell she’s still in college:
