Jeter

Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens had been locked up in a nice little pitcher’s duel with each allowing just one run. Schilling came back out for the 8th and got into a bit of trouble that ended with Derek Jeter hitting a 3-run blast. The Sox tried to battle back but were unable to pushing the tying run across the plate against Mariano Rivera in the 9th. The lead is now at 4 1/2 in the AL East and the Yanks kept their lead at 2 1/2 in the wild card over the Tigers. The Sox headed to Toronto after the game and will hand the ball to Tim Wakefield. Before he steps on the Rogers Centre mound, check out today’s headlines from the Boston area and New York scribes.
