Waiting for Manny

Manny about to cross the plate

Manny bombDid the “Anti-Bartman” save the game for the Sox? A 17-year-old son of one of the Red Sox partners took away a foul ball from Angels catcher Jeff Mathis in the 5th inning, allowing Manny’s at-bat to continue. Manny ended up walking on the play and then Mike Lowell tied it up with a sac fly. To the 9th we go at Fenway, all tied up at 3. Lugo reaches, Pedroia moves him over, Youk strikes out, Big Papi intentionally walked to face Manny. How many times does that ever work out? Not too many and in this case, it didn’t as Manny hit an absolute bomb out of Fenway Park over the Green Monster last night to set off the Fenway faithful and send the Red Sox to Anaheim with a 2-0 lead. After the game if you stayed up to watch the postgame interviews, we were blessed with two interviews by Manny. One with Jose Mota right after the game and then in the media room. In case you missed it, I will sum it up for you. “I am a bad man”. So while the boys are trying to get some rest today, let’s take a look at the headlines from last night’s game from the Boston and Los Angeles area media.
