Red Sox principal owner John W. Henry has filed for divorce from his wife of 14 years, Peggy Henry.
Henry, a 57-year-old multimillionaire and his 45-year-old wife were married in Hawaii in 1993. They have a 10-year-old daughter, Sara.
Henry filed for divorce in Florida over two months ago. Saying they’ve grown apart over recent years. A family friend said she doesn’t like being here and moving their child to Boston for the baseball season. The friend added that Mrs. Henry liked her life in Florida prefers that social scene as all of her friends are there.
The split is said to be very amicable.
A Red Sox spokesperson says that the divorce “will have no effect on Mr. Henry’s ownership of the Red Sox or New England Sports Ventures”.
