Another Christmas Gift Idea

Zubaz pants are the shitThink back to the early 90’s when the Zubaz pants were all the rage. Well guess what, they are making a comeback just in time for the Christmas shopping season.

That’s right, 20 years after their inception, Zubaz are back. Often imitated, never duplicated. The one, the only, the original.

We’ve decided what the world needs now is another pair of Zubaz and this is the only place to get them. Zubaz pants are available in a variety of colors and sizes with the same great quality, comfort and fit that they were famous for 20 years ago. These pants are the same pants that were worn by pro athletes, rock stars, kings and queens, and anybody who Dared to be Different.

Zubaz…outstanding pants.

The only place you can get them is by heading over to the Zubaz website. The pants are only $29.99.

Big Baby Steps In As Celtics Win

Rookie Glenn “Big Baby” Davis stepped in started for an injured Kendrick Perkins tonight and in 26 minutes he had 16 points and 9 rebounds as the Boston Celtics improved to an NBA best 18-2 with a 90-78 win over the Sacramento Kings Wednesday evening at the TD BankNorth Garden.

Artest and PiercePerkins who hurt his toe trying to fix his bed after it tilted to one side on Tuesday was held out of the line up and Davis responded. He was 3 of 6 from the field, 10 of 10 from the charity stripe and only committed two fouls in his biggest and best outing of the season.

On a night when the Celtics were without their starting center and two of the “Three Amigo’s” were off it was the rookie who stood up.

In addition to the big man from LSU, the Green got 26 points from Paul Pierce, 15 from Ray Allen and 11 from Kevin Garnett.

Sacramento was led by resident nut case Ron Artest who had 16 points, Beno Udrih also had 16 points and Brad Miller chipped in 14 for the Kings.

The Celtics, who are now 13-0 at home will try to tie the team record of 14 wins at home to start the season on Friday night when they host the Milwaukee Bucks and Yi Jainlian.

Musings From the College Hardwood @ SOX & Dawgs

Arkansas State’s leading scoring, Adrian Banks, who had been suspended indefinitely for firing a gun within the city limits of Jonesboro, AR, has been suspended through the rest of the 2007 calendar year. He will be able to return to the club on January 3rd, 2008 when Arkansas States takes on Louisiana-Lafayette.

Louisville head coach Rick Pitino has suspended his starting forward Derrick Caracter for violating the curfew imposed in a contract Pitino made his players sign. Louisville will have only 7 scholarship players available when they return from final exams against Purdue on Saturday.

Arizona head coach Lute Olsen will not return to the sidelines this season as he has decided to divorce his second wife, Christine. He had returned to practice but changed his mind when the details of the divorce became public. Kevin O’Neill who was the interim coach, will continue in that role for the rest of the 2007-08 season.

Mitchell Report Arrives Just in Time For Xmas

Mitchell Report

In exactly 24 hours from the time of this post, the moment we all have been waiting for is about to arrive. Former Senator George Mitchell will release his Mitchell Report containing about 50 names at news conference starting at 2 PM.

The press conference will be covered on ESPN. The report will then be published shortly thereafter on MLB.com and Bud Selig will hold his own press conference approximately 2 1/2 hours after Mitchell is done.

So who do we think is going to be on the report? Any of our favorite Red Sox players, any of the enemy Yankees, or any big names?

Picking Up The Blitz Vers. 1.1

So with the New York Jets about to play the New England Patriots on Sunday it has come to light that the Jets had a little camera issue at Foxboro last season when an employee was removed for taping from the end zone and the lighthouse.  The Patriots didn’t push the issue and turn them in, unlike someone else, and the NFL is unaware of any allegations regarding the Jets “spying”.

“All filming at last year’s Patriots game was done with pre-approval from the Patriots and in accordance with NFL rules,” Bruce Speight, the Jets’ senior director of media relations.

So if they had permission to do it, why was the employee removed??

Red Sox News & Notes – 12/12

Red Sox News & Notes @ SOX & Dawgs

Things still remain quiet on As The Santana Turns as the Red Sox aren’t backing down from their original offers of a 3-player deal involving Jacoby Ellsbury and the 4-player deal involving Jon Lester. The Yankees and Mets are still in the mix but neither team is backing down from their offers either.

Sports Business Radio announced it’s first annual awards and named the Boston Red Sox the top professional sports model. To me this isn’t surprising as ever since the John Henry-led ownership group took over, the team has made a complete 180 turn from the previous regime.

Tidbits From the College Gridiron – 12/12

Tidbits from the College Gridiron @ SOX & Dawgs

Just because most of the schools are in final exams right now doesn’t mean there isn’t news going on in the college football world.

By far the biggest news is Bobby Petrino announced that he is resigning his job as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons and currently is in negotiations for the head coaching job at Arkansas. Frankly, I am not shocked Petrino is leaving the Falcons given all that the organization has gone through this year. He took the job with the premise that Michael Vick was going to be his QB1. For obvious reasons, we know this wasn’t the case and the earliest Vick would have a chance to play again is the 2009 season.

The Hawaii athletic department decided to return 4,000 tickets of there 17,500 ticket allotment for this year’s Sugar Bowl when they thought they wouldn’t sell them all. Ummm, big mistake by the Warriors athletic department. They sold out 13,500 tickets to their 23,000 season ticket holders and tickets never went on sale to the general public. Fans were outraged at the decision. Hawaii did request more tickets and received 500 of the requested 1,500 additional tickets they need to satisfy their waiting list.

Guess who is graduating from the University of Alabama 42 years later? “Broadway Joe” Namath. Seems Namath left ‘Bama 15 credits shy of graduation and finally has fulfilled his graduation requirements. He will receive his degree on Saturday.

Picking Up The Blitz

Welcome to “Picking Up The Blitz”.  It’s new feature that’s, shall we say, tidbit based in chocolatey goodness.  It might be just a little scad of information I wish to impart on you or it could be a miriad of bits that I want to cover you with.  Either way you know I’m bored.  And folks we may not just stick to sports either.

Even though the New England Patriots scored 34 points against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon they’re average points per game dropped to 38.7 per contest.  This puts them behind the NFL record of 38.8 points per game set by the 1950 Los Angeles Rams.  But don’t worry the next two weeks they play the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins so look for the average to get a boost.  And a big one.

Yes kids, the Rams used to play in Los Angeles.  They even played in one Super Bowl as the LA Rams before they moved to the STL to replace the Cardinals who moved to Arizona.  Yup there were two teams named the St. Louis Cardinals, there were also two teams named the New York Giants.  Okay okay that’s your history lesson for the day.

Is it me or does New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini need some Proactiv or Clean & Clear?  Maybe Santa will be good to the squealer and bring him some with his coal.

Do you think Chris Berman has any idea how old and tired his act is?  I mean it was clever 20-years ago but now it’s like watching your dog chase it’s tail.  You’ve seen it before and in the end the result never changes.

No one can say that Bobby Petrino is stupid.  No sir-ee.  After inking a five year deal to coach the Atlanta Falcons last off season he resigned today and looks like he is going to go coach at Arkansas in the SEC.  Wonder how long he’ll stay there?  We all remember when he was at Louisville it seemed liked every year he contemplated taking one or two different jobs before bolting for Arthur Blanks Home Depot money.

I for one may just vote for Hilary Clinton.  I wouldn’t do it because I love her policies or her politics but because I really feel like America misses Bill.  Do you remember how much fun he was to have around?  Just think of the stuff he accomplished over those eight years and THIS TIME he would have nothing but time on his hands and college interns on the table, the couch, the floor, in the shower.  My word, Hilary goes out of the country for a summitt and the White House will be turned into the newest Gold Club location.

Ok it’s time to make like Charlie Steiner and “follow me…follow me to freedom” because I’m outta here.
