When Casey Cochran and Chandler Whitmer were named the starting quarterback and key backup, the plan for UConn Huskies head football coach Bob Dico was to try and do everything possible they could to redshirt Tim Boyle.
But with Cochran having to retire from football due to concussions, the plan has changed. Now Boyle, the “quarterback of the future” according to Diaco on his radio show on Thursday night, will start to see time at the position during the games.
How many snaps Boyle will get remains to be seen. Only the UConn coaching staff and the players know the participation plan for Saturday’s game against Boise State.
If I had to venture a guess, he’ll see snaps when situations develop that he’s comfortable in at first. But as time goes along, he’ll push Whitmer for the starting job.
