Gary Tanguay jokingly called him God last night on Sports Tonight on Comcast Sports New England and Michael Felger scoffed.  Felger even joked about your next chance to see God would be tonight.  Tanguay said the Celtics could not win a championship without him and Felger laughed.

Well Michael Felger must feel like more of an idiot than usual because Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo had a triple-double tonight knocking back 16 points, grabbing 13 boards and dishing out a career-high 17 assists in Boston’s 114-96 win over the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night at the TD Banknorth Garden.  It was the team’s 10th win in a row and the triple-double by Rondo was the first for a Celtic in 181 games.

Rondo was the whole first half for the Celtics in becoming the first Celtics guard since Dennis Johnson in 1986 to net a triple-double and he had that with 10:32 left in the third quarter.  He was simply amazing and he is developing into one of the finest point guards in the NBA and Tommy Heinsohn compares him to Hall of Fame guard Bob Cousy, and that is one of the highest compliments anyone can receive as Cousy was a great one.  And the best part is you’re getting to see him mature and grow right before our very eyes and he got one of the loudest ovations you’ve ever heard in the new Garden.

Don’t get it wrong though it wasn’t all Rondo for the Green (18-2) as Ray Allen had a season high 31 points, Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins had double-doubles as KG had 26 points and 14 rebounds, while Perk had 16 points and 10 boards and Paul Pierce also chipped in with 16 points in the win.

The Pacers (7-11) who had man-handled Boston earlier in the year and beat the Los Angeles Lakers last night, were led by Danny Granger who had 20 points and T.J. Ford had 15 points in the loss.

The Celtics return to action Friday night at home when they host Greg Oden and the Portland Trail Blazers.
