Video: UConn Women’s Elite Eight Pregame Presser

Since I can’t find a transcript of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team’s pregame presser before their Elite Eight matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats, I figured the next best thing is the video of it.

Here it is for you to enjoy:

Video: UConn Women Beat Penn State 77-59 To Advance To Elite Eight

The Penn State Nittany Lions offense had been on fire for the entire 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament. Of course they hadn’t played a stifling defense like the UConn Huskies possess.

UConn's Bria Hartley led her team with 20 points in the NCAA Sweet 16 game against Penn State at the Ryan Center at the University of Rhode Island. After a fast start, the Huskies let the Nittany Lions into the game. But tough defense and 11-0 run gave the Huskies control of the game on their way to a 77-59 win at the Ryan Center in Kingston, RI on Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Huskies (32-4) move on to the Elite Eight where they’ll face the Kentucky Wildcats. The Nittany Lions finish up the season at 26-7.

Bria Hartley led five Huskies in double figures with 20 points and she also had four assists. Kelly Faris chipped in with 15 points, seven rebounds and a team-high five assists while Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tiffany Hayes and Stefanie Dolson rounded out the Huskies in double digits with 10 points each.

Mia Nickson paced Penn State with 19 points and pulled down five rebounds. Caroline Doty’s best friend from home, Maggie Lucas, had a tough shooting night (4-16) but had with 15 points and three assists. Talia East led the Nittany Lions with 10 rebounds to go along with her six points.

Video: UConn Women Advance To Sweet 16 With 72-26 Win Over Kansas State

There wasn't much Kansas State head coach Deb Patterson, left, or Brittany Chambers, right, could do against Bria Hartley and UConn during their second round game of the 2012 NCAA women's basketball tournament at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport Monday night.

The Kansas State Wildcats had been seeded in the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team in previous years but the two teams have never matched up on the hardwood. After what Geno Auriemma’s team did to the Wildcats on Monday night, they’ll probably be hoping to be seeded somewhere else in coming years.

Once again, UConn’s defense was stifling again and the offense was clicking on all cylinders as they went on to a very easy 72-26 win over the Wildcats in front of 4,372 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.

With the win, the Huskies (31-4) advance to the Sweet 16 where they’ll take on the winner of Tuesday’s Penn State/LSU matchup on Sunday. It’s the 19th straight year that UConn has advanced to at least the Sweet 16.

Bria Hartley led the Huskies with 16 points, scoring 13 of them in the first half. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis added 15 points while Kiah Stokes had a career-high 13 points to go along with nine rebounds and three blocked shots.

Tiffany Hayes rounded out the Huskies in double figures with 11 points and also pulled down nine rebounds. As per her usual, Kelly Faris had a nice all around game with five points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Brittany Chambers paced the Wildcats with 11 points and had six rebounds. Jalana Childs chipped in with six points and six rebounds.

Video: UConn & Coastal Carolina Baseball Teams Have A Post National Anthem Standoff

One of the great things about college baseball, is you never know what will happen before the game or even during a rain delay.

We’ve seen dance-offs, jousting, using the toilet and even more dance-offs. And now we have the UConn Huskies and Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball teams participating in a post-national anthem standoff before their game on Sunday afternoon in Conway, SC.

Video: UConn Women Spank Prairie View A&M 83-47 To Advance in NCAA Tourney

The UConn Huskies women’s basketball team came into this 2012 NCAA Tournament as an underdog. When the NCAA Selection Show was held last Monday, there was barely a mention of UConn other than when they were announced as a No. 1 seed.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis of UConn led the Huskies with 21 points angainst Lereahn Washington and Prairie View A&M.So hopefully the Huskies can use that to their advantage on their way to a potential 8th national title. They opened up the 2012 NCAA Tournament on Saturday with the Prairie View A&M Panthers.

The Huskies were able to use the height they have to their advantage and a strong second half defensive effort helped them to a 83-47 win over the Panthers in front of 4,563 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.

UConn advances to the second round on Monday where they’ll take on the Kansas State Wildcats.

Kaleena Mosqueda Lewis led the way for the Huskies (30-4) with 21 points. Those 21 points tie former Husky and current Cincinnati coach Jamelle Elliott for the most by a freshman making their NCAA Tournament debut. KML also led the Huskies with seven rebounds.

Bria Hartley added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists while Stefanie Dolson scored all 15 of her points in the first half. She also had a little bit of an incident towards the end of the game when she was kneed in her private lady parts. Kelly Faris had a great all around game as usual with six points, six rebounds and a team-high eight assists.

Latia Williams paced the Panthers (17-16) with 20 points. JaQuandria Williams added nine points while Kiara Etienne had eight. Larissa Scott led Prairie View A&M with seven rebounds to go along with her four points.

Video: UConn’s Stefanie Dolson Takes Knee To Her Private Lady Parts

We often see men’s college basketball players get hit or kicked in their private parts, especially when they take a charge. But we rarely ever see a women’s college basketball player get hit in her private area.

Well that’s exactly what happened to UConn Huskies women’s sophomore center Stefanie Dolson on Saturday afternoon in UConn’s 83-47 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Saturday afternoon.

Dolson was okay after the incident and was seen laughing with her teammates after it happened.

Video: Iowa State Beats UConn 77-64 in 2012 NCAA Tournament

What started out as a promising season for the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team, ended in disappointment in Louisville, KY on Thursday night.

Video: Syracuse Ends UConn’s Big East Tourney Run, 58-55

Last year, the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team set New York ablaze with their Big East Tournament run on their way to the NCAA Championship. On Thursday afternoon, the Syracuse Orange were looking to end the Huskies fortunes in NYC.

Syracuse's Dion Waiters hangs on the rim after slamming the ball during the quarterfinal round of the Big East NCAA college basketball conference tournament against Connecticut in New York, Thursday, March 8, 2012.When UConn went cold late in the second half, the Orange used an 8-0 run to take control as they held on for a 58-55 win over the Huskies in front of a packed house at Madison Square Garden on Thursday afternoon.

The Huskies (20-13) now wait until Sunday night to find out where they’ll go in the NCAA Tournament (yes folks, they are in). Syracuse (31-1) awaits the winner of Georgetown/Cincinnati in the semifinals.

Shabazz Napier led the way for the Huskies with 15 points. Andre Drummond added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Jeremy Lamb was held to 10 points. Tyler Olander had a nice game off the bench with four points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Dion Waters paced the Orange with 18 points while both Kris Joseph and James Southerland both chipped in with 10 points.
