Video: UConn Women Rout Temple, 80-36

UConn's Moriah Jefferson with one of her four steals against Temple at Webster Bank Arena Saturday.

The Park City served as the UConn Huskies women's basketball "home" on Saturday afternoon and their "home" was just as kind to them as it is in Hartford or Storrs, CT.

Bria Hartley led four Huskies in double figures with 19 points as they went on to beat the Temple Owls 80-36 in front of 9,274 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT.

No. 1 UConn improves to 17-0 (5-0 American) while Tonya Cardoza's Owls squad falls to 8-7 (2-3).

Moriah Jefferson, who I thought was the player of the game for the Huskies, added 13 points, six assists, four steals and one blocked shot. Breanna Stewart struggled with foul trouble for most of the game but was able to score 12 points and block three shots. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis shed the elbow brace and had 11 points.

Stefanie Dolson also was saddled with foul trouble but had eight points and seven blocked shots. Kiah Stokes was a monster on the boards as she pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with six points and three blocked shots.

Erica Covile was the only member of Temple to hit double figures with 13 points and had seven rebounds but also had six turnovers. Freshman Taylor Robinson made her first career start and had a career-high eight points and eight rebounds, which led the Owls along with Natasha Thames' eight rebounds.

The Owls kept this one close early on staying with UConn for the first ten minutes of the half. The Huskies would gradually build their lead to 17 at the half.

UConn used a 28-5 run to start the second half to break open the game and seal the win.

The Huskies now head to Waco, TX for a matchup with the No. 7 Baylor Lady Bears on Monday night. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it's the final non-conference game of the season for UConn.

Video: The Blitz – Coach Diaco Introduces Staff

If I played you the seven minutes or so of audio of new UConn Huskies football coach Bob Diaco introducing the members of his staff to the media on Wednesday, it would sound exactly like it does in the video below. Minus the lovely Emily Noonan of course.

Like him, his staff is very energetic. To me, it was almost like he filled out his staff with clones of himself.

I really do think this is going to be an exciting time for UConn football under Diaco. Only time will tell that but give him a year or two and he'll have UConn football going where it hasn't gone before.

I'll have more on Diaco's staff coming up over the next several days.

Here's a great ad from the UConn Huskies ticket office.

Video: UConn Men Grind One Out Against Harvard, 61-56

After the Texas two-misstep, the UConn Huskies men's basketball team was in a need of a win. I wouldn't say they were desperate, I'll just say they needed a win badly in their final non-conference game of the 2013-14 season.

The win almost didn't happen as they saw their eight point lead with 1:30 to go suddenly knocked down to three with 10 seconds left. After a Niels Giffey turnover, DeAndre Daniels was able to get a turnover and knock down the free throws to seal a 61-56 win for UConn over the Harvard Crimson in front of 9,218 at Gampel Pavilion on Wednesday night.

The Huskies improve to 12-3 and went 12-1 in non-conference action. The Crimson fall to 13-2 and the loss snapped a nine-game road winning streak.

Connecticut Huskies guard Ryan Boatright (11) takes a shot as Harvard Crimson guard Brandyn Curry (10) defends during the first half at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs Wednesday night.Shabazz Napier led the Huskies with 18 points, 13 of which came in the second half, and pulled down seven rebounds. Ryan Boatright had 14 points while Daniels had 11 points, a team-high eight rebounds and four blocked shots.

Lasan Kromah had nine points, five rebounds and three assists in his first start in a UConn uniform.

Siyani Chambers paced Harvard with a game-high 21 points. Laurent Rivard had 13 points while Kyle Casey had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Brandyn Curry had a nice game with seven points, five rebounds and six assists for the Crimson who were playing without one of their stars in Wesley Saunders.

After what happened in Texas this win was a good one for the Huskies. It may not have been pretty especially as they trailed at halftime by five points.

But in the second half, they stepped up their defense and that really turned out to be the difference.

The Huskies go back to conference play on Saturday as they'll host the UCF Knights at Gampel Pavilion. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Video: Houston Holds Off UConn For 75-71 Upset Win

Members of the Houston Cougars celebrate after defeating the Connecticut Huskies 75-71 at Hofheinz Pavilion.

This was definitely not the way head coach Kevin Ollie and the UConn Huskies men's basketball team wanted to enter 2014. Playing against a short-handed and less experienced Houston Cougars team, the Huskies were outplayed.

And despite their best efforts to rally, UConn fell to Houston 75-71 in front of 4,035 and a nationally televised audience at Hofheinz Pavilion on New Year's Eve 2013 in the American Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

The Huskies fall to 11-2 (0-1 American) while the Cougars improve to 9-5 (1-0).

Shabazz Napier led the Huskies with 27 points and nine rebounds. 25 of his points came in the second half which saw the Huskies erase an 18 point deficit and hold the lead late.

Ryan Boatright added 19 points and nine assists while DeAndre Daniels had 12 points.

TaShawn Thomas led the Cougars with 23 points and had eight rebounds. Jherrod Stiggers had 17 points while Danrad Knowles had 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

I could say the Huskies comeback was a great thing to see because it was. But in actuality, they really shouldn't have been that far behind.

It just shows you that you can't win a basketball game on a talent alone. Houston had more heart in this one, more of the will to win than UConn.

The Huskies will stay in the great state of Texas as they'll take on the SMU Mustangs in Dallas on Saturday, January 4. Tip is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

Video: UConn’s Trevardo Williams Runs Fastest 40 For DL

During the 2013 NFL Combine, former UConn Huskies defensive end Trevardo Williams clocked a 4.57 40-yard dash. It turned out to be the fastest among all the defensive lineman at the combine.

He also did it on an injured ankle that caused him to be replaced at the 2013 Senior Bowl, ironically enough by his teammate Sio Moore.

Williams also had the highest vertical leap at 38" and finished in a tie for the 5th in the bench press at 30 reps of 225 lbs. He was third in the broad jump at 10'4".
