Here is a press release from the University of Connecticut athletic department concerning the parade that will take place this Sunday to celebrate the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team’s national championship:

STORRS, Conn. – The specific Parade Route and Map for this Sunday, April 19th’s parade to celebrate the University of Connecticut Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship victory has been announced. The parade will be held on Sunday, April 19 at 3 p.m. and will begin and end at the Connecticut State Capitol Building in Hartford. The procession will be followed immediately by a rally on the north steps of the Capitol Building.

Planning Committee members report that the parade will step off at 3 p.m. from the Connecticut State Capitol Building, and will travel north on Trinity Street alongside Bushnell Park, turn right onto Jewell Street, turn left onto Gold Street, turn right onto Main Street, and turn right onto Capitol Avenue before returning to the north steps of the Capitol Building for a large Rally. The team will travel the route atop a double-decker bus, similar to the 2004 parade.

The parade’s planning committee is coordinated by Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s office, the Hartford Business Improvement District and the MetroHartford Alliance. The committee consists of representatives from the Office of the Governor, the State of Connecticut, the City of Hartford, the University of Connecticut, the Hartford Hospitality Task Force, and businesses and civic organizations from throughout the Greater Hartford region.
