Well either Jarrod Saltalamacchia is on his way out of Boston or Ryan Lavarnway will start the season in Triple-A Pawtucket.
Why's that you ask.
According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, the Boston Red Sox and catcher David Ross have agreed on a two-year deal worth $6.2 million. All that stands in the way of it being official is Ross passing the physical.
This isn't Ross' first go around in Boston. In 2008, he played in eight games hitting .125.
He's spent the past four years as the backup to Brian McCann with the Atlanta Braves. In 2012, he played in 62 games hitting .256 with nine home runs and 23 RBIs.
It'll be interesting to see what's going on with the Red Sox catching position as we go through the offseason. But at least for now, the Red Sox will go into spring training with three catchers trying to grab two spots.
