On a night where the balls were flying out for one team and bottles being thrown at another, one person stood out above the rest. Not Khalil Greene and his two homeruns, not Josh Bard and his 3 RBI. I am talking about Chris Young and his 11 K’s of Sox hitters.
Of the players who started the game for the Bosox, only Mike Lowell and Dustin Pedroia didn’t strike out last night. Young’s stuff was electric, virtually unhittable. That’s going to happen to teams time and again. We’ve seen Beckett doing that before to teams. Speaking of Beckett, today’s game should be one of the finer pitching matchups of the entire season so far. Beckett vs Jake Peavy. Peavy is 9-1 with a 1.98 ERA and 110 K’s in 15 starts. Beckett is 10-1 with a 3.14 ERA and 71 K’s in 13 starts. So today’s game is not one you want to miss. Gametime is 4:05 PM and it can be seen in New England on NESN.
