CC Sabathia (L), John Lackey (R)

After falling out of first place last night, the Boston Red Sox look to get back into a tie for first in the second game of a three-game set with the New York Yankees this afternoon at Historic Fenway Park.

Today’s first pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on FOX in 81% of the USA. And if you can’t catch the television broadcast, you can always listen to the game on the 2011 Red Sox Radio Network.

After receiving a no decision for the first time all season in his last start, John Lackey goes for his 10th win in his 19th start of 2011. In his previous 18 starts, Lackey is 9-8 with a 6.23 ERA. One of those wins came in his only start of the season against the Yankees back on April 8th. In that start, he allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He’s made 20 career starts against the Yanks and is 7-8 with a 4.68 ERA. He’s made three of those starts at the Fens where he is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA against them.

CC Sabathia makes his 25th start of 2011 this afternoon. In his previous 24 starts, Sabathia is 16-5 with a 2.55 ERA. He’s made three starts against the Red Sox this season and is 0-3 with a 6.16 ERA (13 ER/19 IP). In 18 career starts against the Red Sox, CC is 6-8 with a 3.88 ERA. Eight of those starts have come at the Fens where he is 2-3 with a 3.78 ERA.
