Beckett and Clemens - Boston Globe

To sum up last night’s game between the Red Sox and Yankees is pretty easy.

  • Red Sox, Beckett – Not good
  • Yankees, Clemens – Good

The Yankees pounded out 14 hits last night and Johnny Demon again was clutch against his former mates as the Yanks beat the Sox again. Beckett ran into some trouble early and that’s what cost the Sox the game. He was clearly not the pitcher we’ve seen all year while Clemens looked like the Clemens of Red Sox lore as he threw 5 1/3 no hit innings last night. Big Papi broke up the no-no with a home run but that’s all they could scrape together off of Clemens. They were unable to take advantage of the walks issued by Clemens. They did get two runs off of Kyle Farnsworth but then old nemesis Mariano Rivera came in and finished them off. Big Schill starts this afternoon trying to push the lead back to 7 games but before he does, let’s take a look at some of the headlines from the Boston area and New York scribes.
