NY tabloid covers 8-29Johnny Demon got the best of his old team last night as his home run was the difference in the Skanks 5-3 win last night. Andy Pettitte kept up his hot August pitching, throwing 7 strong innings. Daisuke Matsuzaka wasn’t that bad although he’d like to forget the first inning as he struggled. He pitched pretty well after that until the 7th when he gave up Demon’s blast, if you could even call it that. The Sox had a couple of back injuries happen last night as both Manny Ramirez and Bobby Kielty left the game with back spasms. Manny has a had a sore back over the past week or so and Kielty’s stems from his first game when he crashed into the wall taking away a home run. The Yanks brought in their version of Jonathan Papelbon last night in Joba Chamberlain, who is the real deal. The kid had some early nerves but was lights out after that. I could see him taking over for Mariano Rivera even though the Skanks think he should start next year. Before the battle of the Texans (Josh Beckett and Roger Clemens) starts tonight, let’s take a look at the headlines from the Boston area and New York media.
