With the St. Louis Cardinals beating the Atlanta Braves last night in NL Wild Card round, the matchups for the 2012 National League Division Series are set.
The Washington Nationals (NL East winner), Cincinnati Reds (NL Central winner), San Francisco Giants (AL West winner) and Cardinals (wild card playoff winner) will be the four teams competing for the right to represent the American League in the World Series.
The Nationals finished with the best record in the American League so they will have home field advantage through the NLCS should they advance that far. The National League holds home field advantage in the World Series by virtue of their win in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadum in Kansas City, MO back in July.
The matchups are set as the Nationals will take on the Cardinals while the Reds take on the Giants.
