We are facing a $944 million deficit here in the state of Connecticut so shouldn’t the lawmakers have better things to do than worry about what happened with UConn Huskies men’s basketball coach Jim Calhoun last Saturday.
Sen. Mary Ann Handley, D-Manchester, and Rep. Roberta Willis, D-Lakeville, say Calhoun’s outburst Saturday does not reflect well on him or the state’s flagship university.
In a letter sent Thursday to UConn President Michael J. Hogan, the lawmakers say the Hall of Fame coach should be reminded that he is a role model for many athletes and students.
Seriously, these lawmakers need to worry about how to make things better for the residents of Connecticut rather than have Calhoun reprimanded.
