STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team will play 13 regular season home games during the 2014-15 season, including a December showdown with Duke at the XL Center and a February battle with South Carolina at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion. In addition to the regular season tilts, the Huskies will split a pair of exhibition games between Storrs and Hartford.
The 2014 National Champions will play six games at Gampel and six games at the XL Center. Connecticut will also return to the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. for a home game against DePaul on Dec. 19.
UConn will open the exhibition portion of its home schedule on Nov. 2 when it hosts head coach Geno Auriemma’s alma mater West Chester at Gampel at 1 p.m. A week later, the Huskies will round out the preseason with a meeting against Post in Hartford at 4:30 p.m.
The regular season home opener is set for Nov. 23 when Creighton visits Gampel for a 1 p.m. battle. Conference play starts in late December when SMU heads to Gampel on Dec. 27 for a 1 p.m. contest. Last season, the Huskies downed the Mustangs by an average margin of 47 points in two regular season matchups.
The Huskies will face a big test on Dec. 29 when Duke comes to the XL Center for a 9 p.m. game on ESPN2. UConn defeated the Blue Devils, 82-61, on the road last season and is riding a seven-game winning streak against its ACC foe.
UConn also welcomes South Carolina to Storrs on Feb. 9 in a meeting of two No. 1 seeds in the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The Gamecocks finished last season ranked No. 8 nationally and won the SEC regular season title before bowing out in the NCAA Regional Semifinal.
The Huskies sport a stellar 297-19 (.940) record in their on-campus facility since the building opened in 1990. UConn has been equally impressive in Hartford, winning 69 of its last 72 games.
