After enjoying a day off on Thursday after being swept in Cleveland, the Boston Red Sox are in the Motor City tonight for the first game of a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Tigers television market, you can catch the game on Fox Sports Detroit. If you don’t live in either market, you’re in luck as the MLB Network will have the coverage of the game (outside of Red Sox and Tigers television market). And if you can’t catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2014 Red Sox Radio Network.
Rubby De La Rosa makes his second start of the 2014 season. He got the win in his previous start after throwing seven shutout innings against the Rays. His only appearance against the Tigers came in 2013 season when threw one inning of scoreless relief.
Drew Smyly makes his ninth start (12th appearance) of the 2014 season. In his previous 11 appearances (eight starts), Smyly is 2-4 with a 4.10 ERA. He made two appearances against the Red Sox in 2013 and was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He’s made three career appearances (one start) against the visiting nine and is 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA.
