With the Baltimore Orioles beating the Texas Rangers last night in AL Wild Card round, the matchups for the 2012 American League Division Series are set.
The New York Yankees (AL East winner), Detroit Tigers (AL Central winner), Oakland Athletics (AL West winner) and Orioles (wild card playoff winner) will be the four teams competing for the right to represent the American League in the World Series.
The Yankees finished with the best record in the American League so they will have home field advantage through the ALCS should they advance that far. The National League holds home field advantage in the World Series by virtue of their win in the 2012 MLB All-Star Game at Kauffman Stadum in Kansas City, MO back in July.
The matchups are set as the Yankees will take on the Orioles while the Athletics take on the Tigers.
