The honors continue to roll in for the UConn Huskies women’s basketball program as today the Associated Press announced it’s Women’s All-America Team.
Headlining the team is the only unanimous selection in Maya Moore. She’s joined on the First Team by her teammate Renee Montgomery, Oklahoma’s Courtney Paris, Louisville’s Angel McCoughtry and Maryland’s Kristi Toliver.
Paris is the first four-year First Team All-American in the history of the women’s game and both Moore and Paris are the only players to make it in their first two seasons.
It’s also the first time a team has put two players on the First Team since 2000 when UConn’s Svetlana Abrosimova and Shea Ralph did it. The Huskies also did it in 1996 with Kara Wolters and Jennifer Rizzotti.
UConn center Tina Charles is also an All-American as she was named to the Second Team.
