We start off were we’ve started the last several weeks with head coach Bill Belichick’s weekly visit with the Big Show on WEEI in Boston.

With the Steelers and the mighty Dolphins battling to a scoreless tie as we neared the end of regulation last night on Monday Night Football they brought up the infamous Snow Plow game between New England and Miami in 1982. That was scoreless with 4:40 left to play.

Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork was absolutely stunned and nearly speechless when he heard the news about Washington safety Sean Taylor being shot. Wilfork and Taylor were teammates for three seasons at the University of Miami and were both first round draft picks in 2004. Taylor was the 5th overall pick by the Redskins, while Wilfork was taken by New England 21st overall.

The Patriots will make a decision on Troy Brown by 4 p.m. today. The options are to activate him to the 53-man roster, place him on the IR ending his season or release him. The later two would most likely end the playing career of Brown a career Patriot, with three Super Bowl rings from his 14-year career. Brown and Tedy Bruschi, who was a rookie, are the last remaining players from the team that lost to Green Bay in Super Bowl XXXI.

There is some question as to what type of injury linebacker Rosevelt Colvin sustained. NBC’s Andrea “goo goo eyes” Kreamer reported it as a “foot” injury while reporters later saw the training staff working on one of his arms. When Belichick was asked about it he had this to say:

“It was announced as a foot? Then we’ll leave it with that announcement.”

Cornerback Randall Gay also left the game with a back injury but he was seen in the locker room on Monday and stopped to talk to reporters about his injury.

“I don’t plan on missing any games this year,” Gay carefully declared with a laugh. “But an injury is an injury. You’ve got to just get better each day. Hopefully I can get back out there quick.”

The Patriots 31-28 win earned the highest rating for a Sunday night or Monday night game in two years with a nationwide overnight rating of 15.6.

You have to give the Eagles credit with their game plan and all out style of play. They very possibly outplayed the Patriots and my play of the game has to be the Philadelphia onside kick after a touchdown. It was a great call by Andy Reid and executed perfectly by the Eagles kick off team.

Former Eagles wide receivers Jabar Gaffney and Donte` Stallworth had good games against their old team. Gaffney had 6 catches for 87 yards and a TD while Stallworth had 4 receptions for 54 yards.

The Patriots are preparing for the Monday night game against the Baltimore Ravens who have a very good defense and no offense.  This is kind of odd seeing as Brian Billick, the Ravens head coach, earned his reputation as an offensive genius while the offensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings that featured a wide receiver named Randy Moss. The two teams face off on ESPN at 8:30 p.m.  It’s the third week in a row the Patriots wll play in front of a national audience.

The San Francisco 49ers actually won on Sunday when Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner fumbled in the end zone during overtime and the ball was recovered by former Patriot linebacker Tully Banta-Cain for a touchdown.  The win took the 49ers from the 3rd worst record to somewhere around 5th or 6th worst.  Why do we care, well the Patriots have the 49ers First Round draft pick in the 2008 draft.  If they draft 3rd they’d possibly have a shot at Arkansas RB Darren McFadden (if he comes out as a junior) while 5th or 6th gives them most likely a shot at Virginia DL Chris Long, son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long, or Ohio State linebacker James Lauranitis, son of professional wrestler, “The Animal” . Â
