Big Stein is very happy his skipper got his 2000th win as a manager with the Yankees. He is the longest tenured manager under Big Stein’s watch. But Big Stein wants to know why Newsday ran the Mets on the cover when Joe Torre got his 2000th win. It makes Big Stein so mad he might go get a calzone. He also wants to know why his pitcher’s don’t throw a game like Schilling did yesterday since his team is still stuck in 4th place.

Big Stein is happy that his Wang pulled one out last night. He’s giddy that his team is almost trailing by single digits again. He’s not happy about the “other team” in NY taking 2 covers this morning. And he’ still waiting for his “greenies” to get delivered. He also wants to know how Giambi can sweat so much when he’s not playing.

Sorry for the delay, Big Stein was trying to figure out why there was hockey on the Newsday cover. He is also trying to figure out how a team from Toronto was in 2nd place and not his team. He is happy though the Yanks picked up a game in the standings. But this whole hockey business on the cover of Newsday has him steaming.

For the month of May, Pedroia hit .415, had 2 homeruns, 9 rbi’s, 6 doubles in 21 games played. Dustin led his fellow rooks in the AL in the following categories: average, doubles and OBP.

Pedroia had an unbelieveable week last week. In 6 games, he hit .609, with 6 rbi’s and 6 doubles.

Hideki Okajima was the Rookie of the Month in April from the Red Sox, and Daisuke Matsuzaka won the Player of the Week award two weeks ago.

Brian Daubach was the last rookie on the Red Sox to win the Player of the Week honors back in 1999.
