Who was the last player to shoot a free throw against the UConn women’s basketball team?

If you said Aleighsa Welch of the South Carolina Gamecocks, you would be correct.

Since there was 2:25 minutes to go in the game against South Carolina on February 9, the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team has not allowed a free throw. That’s right, they went 40 minutes against the Tulane Green Wave and 40 minutes against the Houston Cougars without sending someone to the charity stripe.

No one-and-ones, no and ones, no two free throws on a foul on a shot. Nothing, nada, zilch.

It’s an incredible feat by the Huskies and given their goals each game, it’s not surprising to head coach Geno Auriemma or Breanna Stewart.

It’ll be intriguing to see what happens against Tulsa this afternoon. It’ll even be more interesting to see how Auriemma reacts if someone does send the Golden Hurricane to the free throw line.

Watch and/or listen below as Auriemma, Stewart and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis talk about the streak and UConn’s defense.
