Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Max Scherzer pumps his fist after getting Boston Red Sox's Grady Sizemore to ground into a double play during the sixth inning of a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston, Friday, May 16, 2014.

The pitching matchup was one that most likely wouldn’t disappoint. Max Scherzer vs Jon Lester. Rematch of the 2013 ALCS. Unfortunately, the weather had some plans of its own to ruin it.

Had it not been for a 47 minute rain delay at the top of the 4th inning, I fully think both Scherzer and Lester would have last more than six and five innings respectively.

The Tigers would get the only run of the game in the 1st inning and four pitchers behind the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner made it stand up in a 1-0 win.

Lester went five innings, allowing the one run on four hits and three walks while striking out seven. Scherzer went six innings, allowing just three hits and four walks while striking out seven.

David Ortiz, Mike Carp and David Ross, who seems to be the personal catcher for Lester, had the only hits of the game for the home team.
