While it was Daniel Nava that provided the hit to give the Boston Red Sox an 8-7 win over the Seattle Mariners on Thursday afternoon at Safeco Field in Seattle, WA, it was really Steven Wright's pitching heroics that really gave them the win.
After Ryan Dempster started the game and allowed seven runs (four earned) in just 3.1 innings of work, it was Wright who rescued them with 5.2 innings of no run baseball. During that stretch, he allowed three hits, two walks and struck out three.
He also picked up his first MLB win after Koji Uehara picked up the save.
