After losing three-of-four in the home of "The Wire", the Boston Red Sox return home for a brief three-game, two-day homestand against the Tampa Bay Rays at historic Fenway Park. They'll kick it off this afternoon with the first game of a doubleheader.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast on NESN in the Red Sox television market. If you live in the Rays television market, you can catch the game on Sun Sports. And if you can't catch the game on television, you can always listen on the 2013 Red Sox Radio Network.
The Red Sox take advantage of MLB's 26th man rule for doubleheaders as Alfredo Aceves makes his sixth start (ninth appearance). In his previous eight appearances (five starts), Aceves is 3-1 with a 5.58 ERA. He picked up the win his last time out against the Rays as he allowed one run in six innings of work back on June 12th. He's made 20 career appearances (one start) against the Rays and is 3-1 with a 2.27 ERA and three saves. Aceves will have to be sent back to the PawSox after the game.
Chris Archer makes his fourth start of 2013 for skipper Joe Maddon. In his previous three starts, Archer is 1-2 with a 4.80 ERA. He took the loss in the June 12th matchup after allowing two runs in four innings of work. He's made two career starts against the Red Sox and is 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA (5 ER/9 IP). This afternoon's start will mark his first at the Fens.
